Invisible-in-canal (IIC) hearing aids are the smallest custom hearing aids available. They are designed and sculpted to fit entirely inside your ear canal (external auditory meatus) and are therefore almost, if not completely, invisible. Extraction cords are usually fitted to IIC hearing aids to help insert and remove them from the ear.
nvisible in the canal hearing aids was first made by Starkey Hearing technology, a pioneer company in the hearing aid. Infact, custom hearing aid was invented by Starkey Hearing only. Later on, all the companies like Sivantos, Phonak, Sonova group, Signia, Resound and Widex followed the suite and they came up with their own IIC. IIC are also termed as Soundlens. These hearing aids are even smaller than CIC and are best suited for the people who are very discrete about hearing aids not being visible. The True IIC / invisible hearing aids are fitted near the 2nd bent of the ear canal and just above the ear drum. Owing to the relatively smaller in size and its placement at 2nd bent of the canal, IIC can be made only for the people having broad ear canal. For patient ordering an IIC, please note that it takes a time of 6-8 days in making any custom hearing aids including IIC as these are made as per the patient ear impression which we send from Ahmedabad to manufacturer office which are located in Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore.
