Behind the ear hearing aids have the main shell section, an earmold and a connecting tube. The main shell houses all of the electronics and the battery. The BTE hearing aid hooks over the top of your ear and rests behind the ear. Traditionally a plastic tube connects the hearing aid to a custom earpiece called an earmold that fits in your ear. More recently many of the hearing aid brands have introduced thin tubing, (thin plastic tubing) which connects BTEs to the ear. Thin tubing can be used with a generic dome or a custom tip. Thin tubing is very discreet but it is not suitable for all hearing losses.
Most parts are contained in a small plastic case that rests behind the ear; the case is connected to an earmold or an earpiece by a piece of clear tubing. This style is often chosen for young children because it can accommodate various earmold types, which need to be replaced as the child grows. Also, the BTE aids are easy to be cleaned and handled, and are relatively sturdy. BTE aids are the hearing aids that the user wear outside his/her ear. BTE hearing aids gives maximum power/amplification. These hearing aids are available in multiple colour, power and size option. Mini BTEs are BTEs only but with a small size as compared to BTE and with a bit lesser amplification.
